In Japan, a new insurance of the elderly care started in 2000. The times when Japanese society is composed largely of elderly people has come. However, the foundation of the age, such as the pension system and the health insurance system, with serious financial crisis and decrease of the average of the birth rate, has faced a critical situation. Under this situation, elderly care houses and a social system that can care for elderly people in a local area are needed far more than before.

The elderly care house, CalmCourt, is located in a residential area, 20 km apart from the centre of Tokyo. Near the house, there are companies' grounds and temples, so there remain rich green fields. More than 50 people live in the house and they are cared for by house staffs and medical staffs 24 hours.

It is very difficult to keep such a care house clean and comfortable. For elder people and babies the danger from viruses and food poisoning is more serious than for people in working ages. In winter season, many elderly people are killed by influenza. Clean and safe are most important points for these houses. There are many places where a deodorising and sterilising system is needed, such as kitchens, rest rooms, bathrooms, wet diaper disposal places, laundry rooms and bed linen rooms. Especially after use in the wet diaper disposal place, the deodorising function works extremely well after only 5 minutes.
